These 6 ideas will do more to boost your “happy” than anything else!
We know because we have tried them all.
1. Keep a gratitude/happy journal
Start a gratitude journal and jot down three things you’re grateful for at the beginning or end of the day. One idea is to start an email address called “sothisgoodthinghappenedtoday” and put the date in the subject line and write down three good things that happened that day in the email. Reading through the account is a very rewarding experience.
2. Show Kindness to Others
Intentionally going out of your way to do something nice for someone else can make their day and will probably make yours, too. Going out of your way to be kind to others also helps you feel more in control.
3. Be creative
Learn more powerful ways to thank someone other than the famous two words “Thank you.” Some other options would be: “I really appreciate that” “You’re a lifesaver,” “How can I repay you?” But just remember that actions speak louder than words.
Whether through music, sweets or photos, send an unexpected gift to show your appreciation. A thoughtful surprise, no matter how small or inexpensive will say “Thank you” louder than mere words. One of our favorite ways to do this is to send a Greetabl.
5. Scribe a letter
Never underestimate the power of the handwritten word, especially in the age of instant messages and emails. The next time a friend comes to mind, and you think, “I need to text them and say “hi”‘ take 5 minutes and write them a handwritten letter. It will mean so much more, and we can guarantee that it will make their day!
6. Thank your co-workers
It’s easy to take the people that you work with every day for granted. Let them know how much you appreciate them. A kind work can go a long way.
Counting your blessing, saying “thank you” and focusing on others will do more to boost your mood than anything else.
